People actually RUN from me! 😂

Buenos días familia y amigos!!! Como fue su semana?

Hope you all had an awesome week! I love hearing all the updates! You all sound so so good! Thank you for taking the time to write me.  School has started up, so that's pretty great! It started here this past week too! So happy the family is at June Lake camping right now. Lots of really great memories there when I was younger, especially snapping the line of the potential million dollar fish... still bummed. It's exciting to see that Brik caught a monster trout! Love June Lake, hope y'all are having a great time! Also super fun to hear that Ben's phone has been ringing off the hook! September 1 is a big day for a baseball prospect!

So this week has been pretty great! We have had some hilarious experiences stringed together with miracles. First of all, the funniest thing about being a missionary is that some people are actually scared of you. Even though you are always smiling saying have a nice day, people have literally run from us!! Actually often they give us the stink eye first and then run.  It’s totally common!!  haha. Isn’t that hilarious!  I never thought I’d have that happen.   One of the coolest things about Texas is that everyone loves Jesus, especially in the Latino community. So it's easy to talk to people about Jesus. Anyways, we were coming home one night on our bikes, and there is this guy that set up speakers on the corner of a big intersection and was rapping a sermon. Funny thing is we actually know him from biking on the streets, his name is Wisdom. Not a great picture but he is awesome.

Because everyone loves Jesus down here, we talk to a lot of people. We are actually so so blessed here, Elder Ledezma and I work super hard, and fortunately we are teaching like 20 people at the same time. The hard part is that most of the people we teach feel like they're here in the US, so their life is all good and they don't need anything more. Nonetheless, Elder Ledezma and I do have 3 people committed to baptism, with more on the way.

The biggest miracle of the week though came from Samuel. Samuel is from Equatorial Guinea,  aka the one country in Africa that speaks solely Spanish. He has been here for only 2 months. He was referred to us and we couldn't find his door for a full night. Then we felt like knocking one more door, but we decided not to, because we got a feeling to not to. We came back the next morning and found out that he actually lived at that door. Right as we knock, he brings out chairs and has us teach him right there about the restoration and gospel of Jesus Christ. He then shares with us that he had a dream the night before that was the exact same as the first vision. He had a vision of Joseph Smith... So then we give him a Book of Mormon and says wow like 10 times. Said how powerful it was and how he felt about it. We taught him twice that last week, and yesterday he came to church with his cousin Cesar. He then asked when we can come back, and he said he wants to come to church next week too, and come play soccer with the members at the church. He is the BEST!!! It is amazing when I think of the people I’ve been able to  meet in such a short amount of time here. Check out the picture. He and his cousin are way stylin’.

Can I bring up food?  Y’all know how much I love food.  For now, all we eat are flautas.  But I need you to look up pupusas.  They are the most delicious things EVER. Have I told you about them already? The bummer is that we are only able to eat at member’s homes on the weekend for dinner because they talk too much!!  It stinks!  Apparently the missionaries were having a hard time getting out of their homes after dinner to get back to work.  We do have a Krispy Kreme across the street from our apartment.  We treated ourselves one day!

In our area is Astros Stadium and Texans Stadium, but we haven't been to see it because we don't have a car.  Someday I’ll get there!  President Guthrie actually came teaching with Elder Ledezma and me one night.  It was awesome.  He comes out about once a week.  He is always busy, especially now because transfers are coming up.  He just asked if I brought my glove with me today when we visited his office, and I didn’t. I was so bummed.  From now on, whenever I see him I am so bringing it with me!!  ( I can tell my grammar is getting bad from all the Spanish!  Sorry!)

This picture is for Dad.  (“Chamo” is a Venezuelan word for buddy or pal.)

Here are a few things we see every day!  (Mom's gonna love this!) haha

Hope you all are having an AWESOME week! Spiritual thought, I read my missionary scripture Helaman 5:12 today. Remember that the core of who you are needs to be centered in Christ. If he is our rock, we will never fall. Ever. That's a promise!

Love you all!!!!!
