Training, chicken and Don de Lenguas!

Buenas mi familia y amigos!!!!

How are y'all doing?? I am so happy to have gotten all of your emails this week.  I really love hearing about all of your lives.  Thank you so much!  I have loved seeing all that is going on!! Hearing about Brik going paintballing was awesome.  Sorry you got nailed with some welts!! Also so cool that an area authority came to visit.  Also, thanks for the package of food!!! Those instant meals are AWESOME!

This week has been a little wild. To be honest, when I found out that I was going to be training, I almost threw up a few times.  I was scared to death.  Still feel like I don't know what I'm doing!  I can’t understand anyone on the phone when they speak Spanish. haha.  But relying on the spirit is the only way.

To kick things off, we learned AND PERFORMED the Haka! hahaha

My new companion is Elder Johnson!  He’s great.  He’s also right out of high school, from California, a super smart guy and his dad is a dentist too! His dad went to U o P dental school right around the same time that Dad was there!  Crazy!

Here’s a picture on his first day!

So this week, the first few days were a little rough.  Trying to roll with the conversations pretty much on my own was hard.  I couldn't follow what was being talked about, and had a rough time responding, but then something happened.  Day 4, it was seriously like a miracle, I would even call it the gift of tongues!  I don't know what happened. It just clicked.  I could talk, I could hear, I could make people laugh.  It was the greatest blessing ever, and I am finding joy in all that we are doing.  We have 20 people that we are teaching, but it is hard to get people to commit, but this week, we found miracles.

We felt like we needed to go try a new complex before we went to visit a member's house.  The majority of the places we knock are all apartment complexes.  So we decided to just go on faith.  We didn't have anyone here that were contacted.  We were knocking around, and no one was answering.  We set a goal to find 2 new people to teach in that complex.  We saw a family standing on the 2nd floor of the apartment complex, so we went to go talk to them.  We talked about Joseph Smith and the power of God being restored to the earth and we set a return appointment.  So then we decided to knock that row of apartments.  So the first door that we knocked, Joshua answered.  He immediately invited us in and said that he had been praying like 30 minutes before we knocked.  He told us he thought it was a sign from God and that He is still there watching out for him. Amazing story and we are going back to teach him of Friday.

Here we are meeting Marco with Obispo Ramos! He just moved from Honduras and was baptized as a kid, wants to come to church!

Had Raising Cane's today!!  Best chicken I have ever had through a drive through.  No joke.  Absolutely heaven breaded and served with dipping sauce.  Heaven. Heaven heaven heaven!!!

Elder Perkins in Wal-Mart, enough said.  haha.

I'd just invite y'all to learn of Christ.  Learn how He works. Study His life, how He teaches, and who He is.  “Hold up your light!” (3 Nefi 18:24)  We are so blessed to have a chance to grow close to Him.

Love you all!! Have a great week!
